What not to do when...
Monday, August 26, 2019

This photo was taken by a random photographer last winter. My friends told me I look fierce, and have that "don't mess with me" face.
That's right I don't want anyone messing with my pack.
Common mistakes people make are:
- barking at us.
- petting my dogs without asking. Letting them sniff your hand will not stop them from biting you.
- "oh no, dogs love me!" even though I told them my dog is not friendly.
- letting their dog come over to meet my pack. Some of my dogs might not react well to a stranger (dog).
Let's just pretend you see a pregnant woman pushing a stroller with a baby inside. Would you go touch her belly? Make crying baby sounds at her baby? Put your baby in her stroller so your baby can meet her baby? No, no and no, right?
Well the same rules apply when you meet a dog walker. Also bear in mind, we are there to do a job, to let the dogs get potty breaks and exercise, not for show and tell. It is best to let us be.
You are welcome to take pictures, and please ask before approaching us.
Thank you. Have a nice day!!

Transformer - PRONG COLLAR!
Friday, August 23, 2019

Franklin & Doobie transformed from walking ok and occasionally pulling to loose leash walking with the help of prong collars.
I have blogged about this before, I have introduced this collar to my clients over the years and none of them, I repeat, NONE OF THEM, have said to me, no we hate this and will never use it. In fact feedbacks have all been positive, one even said "where has this collar been all my life!!?!?!?"
I would like to stress that this is just my opinion and my experience with using the prong collar over the years as a tool to assist in loose leash walking. I am by no means a professional trainer. The reason I blog about this is because this collar is so misunderstood, it is a shame as I feel a lot of owners can benefit from it.
Some trainers refuse to use it and some vets say it is dangerous. I can see their points of view, it is not a good idea to use the collar in group training sessions. It's best use for solo training with a good trainer. It is also suitable for dogs that have been trained to walk on leash, but they still pull a bit and won't walk by your side. With the help of the prong collar, you can walk your dog effortlessly and truly enjoy your walks together. As with any tools, if not used properly, it can be dangerous. (a saw, a car, a fork, you get the idea)
There are also knockoffs on the market, you must get the one made in Germany, HS HERM. SPRENGER GERMANY.
I'd be happy to walk with you and introduce the collar to you, you can also look up youtube videos.
I have included a photo of it on my neck just to show you it does not hurt! :)
Happy walking everyone.
Disclaimer: Do not use on dogs that pull excessively, and dogs with trachea problems. You must learn how to use it properly.

Nina & Mela
Wednesday, August 14, 2019

These girls are ridiculously adorable, I walked in one day and there they are. Mela looks up to Nina and loves her dearly, Nina (on the right) hurt her paw one night, so we only took her out for a potty break before continuing our usual walk, when we got home, Mela went and kissed her sister on the forehead. My sweet sweet girls.
Also a photo of Nina telling me she missed me after a very long weekend.

Summer romance
Sunday, July 7, 2019

We had the pleasure of giving a little TLC to Ms. Carolina this summer while she was recovering from an injury. We quickly fell in love with her. Unfortunately she does not live within our serivce area so we were unable continue our relationship once she got better. I hope to see her again when she comes over for little R&R at the Urban Paw Print retreat when her parents go away.
Here's a pic of Lindsay and Sim with her.
